Delegation in two steps
Once you have the right people in the right seats… delegation is straightforward.
Step 1. The Outcome
What needs to be achieved? What does success look like?
Why is this important in the bigger picture?
How will you know the work has been completed? A simple definition of done or perhaps an indication i.e. what will be different once this work is done.
Step 2. Constraints
This may be a discussion or a set of hard constraints:
Time available
Budget available
Guidelines - use your experience to help steer toward the outcome
Your role
Not only keeping the vision clear, but coaching, lending your experience. It is NOT to execute the task. It is NOT low level decision making - not only because you may lack all the info but also because you will not get buy in - although it may be to steer work towards the result where it is deviating.
